What type of funders do you have the most experience with?

Having spent my career working primarily in the nonprofit and government sector, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of funding opportunities from private foundations, corporate foundations, local and state funding, as well as some federal department grants.

I am happy to discuss any grant proposal opportunities with clients and  I will be honest and up front if I do not feel I am the best fit for the funding opportunity. I will be happy to refer clients or assist in finding services that best meet a clients need, if I am not suited to meet those needs.

Our organization is small with a limited budget, is it worth our time to hire a grant consultant?

We offer a variety of ways to help your organization grow its grant readiness and develop strategic goals to help your organization grow operational and financial capacity through grant development.

The cost of consulting services is typically less than hiring a staff person, especially when you add in the additional costs of office space, equipment, benefits, etc, compared to the thousands of dollars successful grant awards can add into your revenue stream for programs and projects.

I want to write proposals for my organization on a monthly basis instead of just one project. Can you help with that?

Yes! We are happy to provide writing services either project-by-project or as part of a full grant package.  We can set up a 30 minute free consultation call to determine a package that best suits your needs.

Question 4

I’ve heard I should connect and develop a relationship with potential funders. Can you do that for me?

We can help coach clients on best practices around funder relations and absolutely encourage all our clients to make the effort to do this on their own. The simple reason is that if you ever stop working with us, you’ll lose the connection.

And we’re committed to doing what makes the most sense for you. These connections drastically increase your chances of getting funded. When we take on the research, writing, and/or reporting, your executive director will have much more time to focus on this.

We have a grant writer on staff that sometimes needs help with grant proposals. Can you help us with this?

Absolutely! We’re happy to help with the load wherever we are needed in the process. We’ll finish projects that you’ve already started, vet funding opportunities your organization has already identified, create applications for new programs, and more.

Can you guarantee us that we will receive an award?

Accepted Answer

Grant funders look subjectively and objectively at submitted proposals to determine how an organization’s history, infrastructure, sustainability, sound financials, uniqueness of program or project, and staffing will help the funding organization meet its mission and purpose.

Review criteria contains a lot of variables that often go beyond a well written proposal. That’s why we only guarantee compelling grant proposals and not the funding itself. It’s not just the grant that matters, but your organization as a whole. Our job is to help you tell your story powerfully.

Would you be willing to work with us if we only have a week before the grant submission is due?

There are alot of variables that go into determining the length of time needed to put together a successful grant proposal.  At KCL Consulting we know through experience that some private and corporate grant proposals can be ready for submission in a week, but typically most federal grants, research projects, or other large scale projects need 30 days or more to complete.

We would be happy to talk with you and determine our availability and discuss options to help you meet your deadline with a successful grant submission.

Question 8

Can you identify grant opportunities for my organization?

We are happy to do grant research independently of any other services or provide it as part of a grant services package. For as little as $100 we can identify three to five prospects or we can work with you on a more comprehensive research package to meet your funding needs.

Can we pay you as a percentage of the award amount or only pay if the grant is awarded?

As a member of the Grants Professional Association, I am committed to serving the greater public good by practicing the highest ethical and professional standards within the grant profession.

As a grants professional, I am bound by this code of ethics and bring those professional standards into the work I do, which is reflected in a professional compensation based on the work and services provided and not contingent upon award.

A fully executed contract allows you to know what your costs will be, when payments are due, and the scope of services to be provided.  We can put together a service package that meets your needs and budget.
